fleas!!!! how do i get rid of them??? :confused:well bella is doing a little bit better on the feeding. she will only eat from my hand but she's eating. i stayed with the royal canin and she seems to be liking it more. i've noticed that she's been eating when nobodys watching, but as long as she eats i'm ok back to my topic. now my problem is the fleas i take her a shower with a flea shampoo every 4 days but it's not working. i've also been spraying her with zodiac flea and tick spray and it's not working either. what do you guys recommend????? |
i dont think shower helps that much, call ur vet a get a frontline it helps them be protected for 30 days. You can also get it it petco pr petsmart but its more expensive, also you need to get the lowest weight frontline. good luck |
You need to buy Frontline!!!!! Its the best and it works! PLus treat your house because the flea cycle is horrible! You will get rid of adult fleas but not the eggs and larva! Its a very frustrating problem!! I had it once and it went away with Frontline! so i learned my lesson and every month i get the treatment! Good luck! |

Frontline is the best and treating your house is a must b/c they will come back! |
We use Best Yet Cedar Spray, it's just amazing, chemical free, and safe. |
I use Advantix on Rosie and also give her Sentinel. Sentinel is her heart worm meds that prevents fleas too. We don't have fleas at all. It works great for fleas and ticks. Good luck! |

Regular (blue color) Dawn dish washing detergent kills fleas better than most flea shampoos. Always follow up with a good hair conditioner though, as it does dry out the coat. Also, Frontline makes a flea spray you may prefer trying over the topical 30 day flea meds. |
Yup, Dawn dish soap is a miracle worker. |
to get rid of fleas After treating the yard and home with frontline or other vet flea and tick medication . Then use capstar. It is a pill you give all of the pets in the home. Before giving the pill make sure you have a light color towel or sheet under the animal. Within 30 min all fleas will be dead. You would have to retreat again if you did not treat the house. I treated my home last summer after a rescue was brought to me flea infested and we did not notice until there were in the house. It took two pills each and frontline and the fleas have been gone from that point. |
Fleas!!! The pill capstar where did you get it? Does it cost alot? |
the topical solutions are not working lately for me or most of my clients. I hate to use chemicals, but Adams Flea & Tick PLUS mist if the ONLY thing working for my guys. I have to respray it about every 3 days |

but it isn't a solution - only a 24 hour thing - it's not that expensive - I had to order it when my 2 got a minor case of fleas for the first time in their life 2 years ago after I moved from a house to an apartment (I only saw one or 2 but that was enough for me) - you have to use a monthly preventative AND treat your home - yard and anything else like bedding etc if you have a bad problem. It's a pain but part of being a pet person and fleas will make any animal miserable |
ps - if you read on the net about flea infestation - you'll see why it's so important to treat your home- the actual fleas are there but you may not see them AND they lay eggs which can hatch at a later time ...then the cycle starts again. There's great info online for what to do Vacuuming is a must after treating your home - but you need to throw away the bag every time or you'll have hatching eggs from what I read. Thankfully I've never had this problem but it can become a huge problem if not nipped in the bud |
for sure treat your home.....inside and outside...there is a yard spray...spray all around your house....especially where the doggies go. blue dawn is a miracle worker.....in the summer time i actually add 3 tablespoons to a bottle of shampoo...........cause i have one yorkie that is allergic to both fleas and ALL flea meds. |
