Age Of First Heat?? Hi I was wondering of you guys can tell me, At what age did your females have their very first heat?? Bella is 5 months old, My Female Bichons didnt have their first one till about 9 months, but I didn't know if yorkies were maybe different,Thanks |
That is super early. The earliest I have ever have one go in was 13 months old, but it can happen. |
I think somewhere between 10-12 months is the "norm". |
Most of my girls go around 10 months but they can go as early as 6 months. |

My moms yorkie went into heat around 7 months, she is on the larger side. My Lola just went into heat not long ago, she was about 19 months. |
Both Kalina and Gidget were six months old. Very young! |

Izzy is on her 9th day of her 1st heat...She is 8 1/2 months old...It has calmed her down ALOT!!! She loves to cuddle and snuggle now..Where before all she wanted to do was Play play play!!!! lol:) |

Yea it is...When my Chihuahua went into heat the first time she was like this too. She has been alot more calm ever since but she starting playing much more after she was done... I'm thinking Izzy is going to be the same way. |
Thanks guys. Bella has not had her first one yet..as I said she is 5 months old..but I was trying to get an idea of about what age, yorkies have their first one..she is only 3lb, and she is just a little thing..maybe it will be a little while yet,(Fingers crossed). |

I was wondering the same thing since my little yorkie is now 5 months old. Am I understanding it is best to spay after their first heat? And another question. I see several have noticed their yorkie calmed down after their first heat. Will this also occur after spay surgery? |

first heat? my bella is 11mths now and i have never had a female dog before. what are the symptoms they have when they go in heat? i know about the swollen nipples, but what else do i have to look foward to?:confused: |

When she comes into heat the usual rule of thumb is one week of bleeding then one week when she is bleeding less and one week where she is not bleeding but her pee pee is very swollen. Their first heat is usually the worst for bleeding and each subsequent heat she will bleed less and less. When they get a little older if you are still breeding her it will become more difficult to tell when her heat has begun because there is not as much bleeding. |
