new puppy missing teeth My new Baby (I'm not sure of a name yet so we call her baby) puppy teeth aren't all grown in yet. She will be 10 weeks tomorrow and she weights 1lb. The vet also said she has LP in one of her back legs but that is wasn't that bad. I've been reading everything on here about it and he didn't give it a number in the one to 4 range but said it was mild and so far he didn't think she would have to have surgery but he would keep an eye on it and watch it carefully. She is a tiny little thing but full of energy and is eating well. I also give her nutri cal 3 times a day. She was the runt of the litter her parents are mom 4 lbs dad 6lbs. Her litter mates were much bigger then her and about the size of my other 2 puppies Chloe and Claire when I first bought them home. I've kind of went Yorkie crazy I now have 4 dogs, Casey my Maltese, and Chloe and Claire are both 4 months old. I'm alone most of the time because my children are older and live out of state and my husband works long hours. so I have the time to devote myself to these baby. They are bringing such joy to my life.:) |
Hello :). I bet one of the breeders could tell you when the puppy teeth may come in, I'm not sure why they haven't yet come in. Since she was the smallest, she may bloom / develop later with all her little milestones. So, do her Mom/Dad have LP? Sounds like you have a great crew to keep you company :)! |
Are you sure shes the age the breeder said and not younger. Sometimes unreputable breeder will claim a small pup is actually older because they can get more money for a small pup. (more demand) |
Puppy teeth generally come in between 6 - 8 weeks...they begin falling out starting around 12 months and are replaced with adult teeth. |
When I brought my Mylee home, she was missing two of her upper teeth. My vet told me some dogs are just missing them, and some are retained (there but never come in). Around 16 weeks she started losing her baby teeth then her adult teeth actually pushed through the two baby teeth that were missing, so thank goodness she didn't need surgery to go in and remove them. She has all her adult teeth now and everything looks good! |
they are their just not broken thru I can see the teeth they just haven't broken through the skin yet. I saw the mom and dad at her home along with her other 2 pups and she didn't have any other dogs. She lives next door to a friend of mine and met her when I took my other two over for a visit. I didn't plan on getting another one at the time but she was just so cute and I do have the time to care for them. She told me this one was the runt of the litter and she wouldn't her to anyone who was going to be gone all day at work because she requires extra care with feedings. I called after I came back from the vet and she offer to exchange this one for the other little girl if I wanted to return her or give me a refund. She also said the mother and father never had any LP problems. This was her first litter and last she said because didn't realize how much work was involved. I just can't take her back I love her already. I didn't get her because of her size I hope she gets as big as her mom at least 4 lbs. I picked her because she was the one that came running up to me to play and give kisses and acted like such a toughy playing with the bigger pups. |
