going bald Tooter is going bald, his hair is getting thinner and thinner. He is two years old and is about 3lbs. I have asked the vet over the last year if there is anything I can do and he says there is nothing wrong. This is not normal can anyone help me? |
It is not normal Hypothyroidism comes to mind. Also, cushing's may need to be ruled out along with a long list of other things. Please get a second opinion. You can always go to a dermatologist if you want to, but there is some baseline testing that a general vet is able to get out of the way first. Skin look okay? |
Alopecia maybe? |

I agree. A simple thyroid panel is in order. |
Wow. Taz has a little thinning of his hair too. I told the vet and she said that it just might be irritation, or fleas. I now have him on comfortis now.. Im really worried after reading this forum :( |
Thanks Thanks for the replys I had asked the vet for blood work and about the thyroid but he assured me it didn't to be done. I am trying another vet this week! His skin has always been dry and scaley. |
this is not a little thinning it is only a few sprigs of hair on his body |
I've been taking my Lady Coco to different vets. One said that tha hair problem is only superficial and she is not suffering. When I suggested the blood tests, he said that first I had to change the food, the shampoo and don't remember what else. Now I'm visiting a different vet who said that if after the meal change, the shampoo change and the medicine, Lady Coco still has hair problems, then it's time for the blood test. It's been a long road, but I'm not happy changing the food because Lady doesn't like at all the limited ingredient kibbles and maybe she is not even allergc to food ingredients... I have to wait and wait, but if I have interesting news, I'll share them. |

answer Went to another Vet he did a skin biopsy and sent it to a leading research university. They diagnosed it as black follicular displasia, no treatment he will loose his hair though. At least I know it isn't something that causes him pain or harm. |
