We got Cody when he was three months old and he was already microchipped. His chip just has a number when scanned and is linked to a national database. All I had to do was send in a change of name, address, etc to AVID (avidid.com) with a check . |
It isn't so much they are reprogrammed from what I understand about microchiping........it is a number on the chip with the name of the chip company. It is scanned and then the "company" is called and "THEY" have your information and contact you. So you need to contact the "chip" company and update the information. If it is a dog that already has a chip, you will have to get the information from the previous owner and a permission change of name/ownership form the company in order to have the information changed on the contact that is on file with the company. A small fee is required to do this. |
The chip itself isn't reprogramed, the company information data file is corrected. |
Yes, you need to contact the microchip company. Levi has resQ and I know that you can update your info online with that company on petlink.net. |
