Okay so we all know chocolate is bad and no chocolate at all is best.
however at some point every dog in the universe gets into something they should not have well tonight it was carob covered raisins i knew that it should be fine but i wanted to make sure and while i was googleing i found this nifty
interactive chart you just scroll down to the size of your dog and it tells you how much is deadly or dangerous to your dog. i really like it because it goes by weight not be breed. sadly carob is not on the list but i found out that it has less theobromine then white chocolate so now i just hope the raisens don't make him sick.

It is true that it is the theobromide in chocolate that is bad for dogs. Dark chocolate and bakers chocolate have higher amounts than milk chocolate (about 8x), and white chocolate contains very little theobromide so not usually toxic.

As for the carob covered raisins - carob is ok for dogs but raisins are BAD -- they can cause kidney failure (so can grapes).

I know they are bad but it was only one actual raisen that he ate the rest he just licked the carob off of

WOW!!! Thank you for this! I wish they had a chart like this for all the big time no-no foods, it sure would prevent me from looking like an idiot to the vet. Just last week I called in an absolute panic because someone gave Bruce a macadamia nut and he ate 1/2 before I could pry the rest out of his mouth. They laughed hysterically when I asked if I should rush him to emergency. Now if this ever happens with a chocolatte I can spare myself the embarassment.

Thats exactly how i felt when i found it he licked the carob off like 4 or 5 raisins and i knew carob was mostly safe but i wanted to make sure he would be okay or not before i called my vet because she really would laugh at me if i called in a panic over 5 raisin coatings
