I have a friend who's silkie has the same conditon...it's allergies. After many trips to the vet, many medications, no change. Finally, she put her on a raw diet....Stella and Chewy....no other treats, except that brand. She is 90% better....!!! Gradually add some type of fish oil to her food...good luck!!! But, stay about with anything with yeast in it....like Missing Link....I have a little boy that would scratch himself raw....I also feed my Stella and Chewy...duck, and they love it.....!!! |

I brought one of mine to the vet earlier this month for his constant scratching and biting at his legs. First, they thought it was an allergic reaction to a flea bite and gave him a steriod shot and a special shampoo & conditioner. The shot did not work. I brought him back in today to get his annual shots and showed them his blotchy skin (it looks like little patches of black/brown dots) was not healing, so they did a Scotch tape test (literally) to get a skin sample and scraped the tip of one of his ears & determined it was a yeast skin infection. He was given more pills to help resolve the issue. I really hope this works because I feel bad seeing him so uncomfortable. :( |
