Shedding Hair. Hi everyone, Every few months my Yorkie sheds hair - I pick up clumps of hair all over the carpet. I brush her regularly but she still sheds. I alternate Frontline and Advantage and keep her flea and tick free. Any advice? |
Bumping this for you. Have you had a wellness check? I have 3 Yorkies that have never done what you are describing.....IMO, I'd make a run to the vet just to make sure. ~Joanne~ |
Thanks Joanne, I'll have to do that. I wonder if it is not the food as well. |
Did you find out what was happening to your Yorkie?? Mine used to shed until she had so few hair in some areas and the hair that is left is so thin :( |
Hmmm...so, is her overall coat getting thinner and thinner, then? If yes, there is something going on that a vet could help you get to the bottom of. Does she have any other symptoms, issues, anything? |
She is very sweet, playfull, and she scratches in the area of the thin hair (bottom of ears, neck, chest, inner thighs and armpits), but the skin seems just fine. The problem is that the vet pretty much ignored me and said that Lady Coco is not suffering and the hair is only aesthetic :( After that, I took her to a different vet and hopefully this will dig more into her problem. But it's been a year since she started to loose hair. I already changed the food, the shampoo and brush her daily, hoping that any of this can help. The vet says that the blood test and other tests are gonna be done if she won't get better with the meds and all the things that I do right now. It's a little bit exhausting, but the worst part is that nobody really tells me an answer. |
I didn't take her to the vet, I prefere to go the natural way. I started giving her what she barked for. As soon as I cut carrots, she barks. So I give her little pieces of carrot and she loves it!! She does the same with strawberries, cucumber skin, raw potatoe skin and any hard veggies. She stopped shedding and her coat looks beautiful and shiny!! |
