Need a very fine ground canned food Because Scarlett isn't chewing things well yet without her teeth, the vet sent us home with a few cans of Hill's Prescription a/d. Scarlett seems to like the very smooth texture, it's almost paste-like. She's turned her nose up at everything else, I think because they aren't as finely ground. Does anyone know of a good quality wet food with a super smooth texture that I could try? |
I'm not sure how it compares in texture to Hills, but Rocco just loves Wellness canned puppy food. He's been on it since he was about 9 weeks old. |
Chloe is super picky and right now she is loving the Natural Balance chicken and sweet potato Limited Ingredient Canned Food. It is very finely ground, there are no chunks of anything in it. |
My guess is it iisn't the texture. A/D is extremely high in fat and is very palatable. It's for trama/post accidents, etc. and it does entice them to eat... |

I'm at a loss trying to find something else to entice her with. I never had a problem with Rhett- he has yet to meet a food he didn't like. |

wellness puppy food is great! So is the rest of the line:) I'm not sure about the texture but I agree with the above poster about the palatability being due to the high fat content, not necessarily the texture. You could always add some water and grind it up some more lol. |
Thanks. I'll check out the Wellness and Natural Balance. It could be the fat content, but she also devours the goats milk with rice cereal so I'm really not sure. And pot roast- yum. I may have to make one tomorrow and give her a little taste. |
Natural Balance had a recall last week on the chicken and sweet potato. I don't remember if it was the canned or the kibble but I wouldn't risk it personally. I have free samples of some canned food that my girls LOVE! There is chicken&crab or turkey&Shrimp. It's not a mush but it is very soft and you can actually tell what's in it. I can mash all the pieces easily with my fingers. The gravy is yummy too. I hope you can find something that she can eat easily. |
I have a picky eater. My vet suggested mixing dry with wet canned food. Also suggested "gravy" that comes in a bottle for dogs. I put just a tiny bit of this on food and it is gobbled up! This "gravy" is found at local pet stores. My yorkie at first, I had to hold the food dish for her to eat anything. I figured whatever it takes to help her eat. Now she eats on her own. My pomeranian puppy is my picky eater. Silly boy! I am praying he will eventually get over being so picky with foods. |
