Seizures-help I got my little guy, Teddy last Sunday evening. He has had a 3 seizures since the latest one this morning at 6 am. Been doing all the things like Karo-feeding him with a syringe. Yesterday I tried to let him eat on his own. I assume he did not eat enough but I was giving him Nutra-Cal a few times to help keep his blood sugar up. Last time I gave him the Nutra-Cal was at midnight and at 6 am he had a seizure. Emergency animal clinical said to feed him baby food like chicken and the Nutra-Cal until he reaches 2LBS. My question is : Do you think when he reaches that 2LBS he will outgrow the seizures because of the low blood sugar. Anyone have any suggestions as well? Thank you for any input. I love my puppy. That depends on whether the seizures are soley related to low blood sugar or an uderlying disease. Try feeding him at least 4 small meals a day, the last one being before bedtime, and don't just rely on him to eat enough on his own. Puppies play hard and they forget to eat. Also, I know some totally rely on Nutrical as a supplement but it can make they crash harder once it wears off so feeding small meals throughout the day will help keep his sugar balanced. |
When my Cali had several episodes of hypoglycemia I had to feed her every 2-3 hours for a few weeks and then every 4 hours till she was about 6 months old. You need to make sure he eats at each meal. I went through many different foods before finding one she would eat most of the time. Have you talked to the breeder to see what they have to say? I hope Teddy feels better soon. Have you had him to your regular vet yet? They may be able to give you some help. |
I would be taking him to my regular Vet; seizures scare the heck out of me. Especially in one so little. |
