Ear drops--is there any easier way? My pup Max has an ear infection and the vet gave me drops to put in his ears every day for 14 days. Max hates the ear drops and goes crazy when I am trying to put it in his ears. We are on day 9 and tonight was the worst he has acted, I couldn't even get the drops in at all. It was getting to the point where I thought he was going to hurt him self, or attempting to restrain him might hurt him, so I just gave up... Any advice on how administer ear drops that would make it easier for Max and not cause me to pull all of my hair out in frustration? |
have you tried wrapping him up in a towel so that he can't move and have someone else administer the drops? |

@Kalina-- thanks for the suggestion, that's a great idea. |
You can also administer them while they are sleeping. |

If your yorkie is small you can pick him up by the scruff of his neck. A lot of the time this calms the dog and "immobilizes" them. Though i warn you, sometimes it freaks them out and makes them scream even though it doesn't hurt. You can also use your other hand to kinda support his hind end so he's not just dangling. Have one of you do this and have the other person come from behind him so he can't see you putting the drops in his ears. |

If you think you are at any risk of getting bit, use a muzzle. Alternatively, I think there is a new product out that it like a thick paste. The vet puts it in and it stays there for awhile. There are some concerns with it and I'm not recommending it b/c I've never seen it used (or even know the name of it), but it is something your vet could look into doing. |

There is also Tresaderm. I have no diea of the name of this stuff. Two of the doctors were talking about it. I'm pretty sure they said it was for infections, but not sure if it does bacteria and yeast. From what I heard, it isn't something I'd be usinb unless I couldn't give the other kinds to Ellie. Sounded interesting though... |
