IBD and lymphoplasmacytic Rhinitis
 

Hi,
Trying this again but a shorter version...HOPEFULLY LOL. I Promise to not to get too frustrated here.

I have a rescue Yorkie, Buddy, who is now 7 1/2 that I 'rescued' at age 5 when he was abandoned in an apt. From Day one, he wasn't 'right' as far as his health and he his medical bills have been upward of $6K...I kid you not.

For almost two years, I fed him organically and supplemented his food with probiotics and dig enzymes. I pulverized veggies and fruits and always bought organic chicken. He continued to sneeze, have diarrhea, mucous, vomiting etc. and this past march he could have died if I hadn't rushed him in for hydration.

Ok, fast forward cause I don't want to get timed out. My vet and nutritionist--surprise, surprise!!!-are at total odds and I had all but discounted any advice from my traditional, medical vet UNTIL THIS PAST MARCH. She had been telling me all along that buddy was intolerant of chicken--the chicken I refused to stop giving him because it was so 'HEALTHY' and my nutritionist was telling me that my vet was nuts. I really bought into this and still would prefer to feed him differently but now, he is doing so well that I am following only my vets advice <groan>

I took Buddy off the chicken and put him on the crappy dead food, Royal Canin. He has thrived and my mind is blown. How can he thrive on this horrible food?? I mean feeding him commercially goes against every thought in my brain..and here he is...THRIVING ON THE GARBAGE. So be it, this is what he is getting. He has now had almost three months of solid, vibrant health and truly, and my mind is blown. My nutritionist is very annoyed with me and is telling me that I am killing him. Nice, eh?

Anyway,does anyone have a dog with BOTH of these diseases? Or even one? Buddy's sneezing can go right out of control too and when he starts to gag, it is downright scary. There is no cure for either one and I am avoiding antibiotics like the plague. My vet is def. on the same page as I am on this one. But guess what? If he needs Flagyl or Tylan, HE WILL GET IT. THIS POOR DOG HAS SUFFERED SO MUCH WITH BOTH OF THESE MALADIES.

I found your post, ha, ha,
I don't have any help for you, sorry. Just wanted to say I have been feeding my 14 month old Royal Canine Yorkshire 28 for a while now. I didn't know it was such "Crappy" food. Just read another post where Wellness Simple Solutions was recommended & think maybe I should try it. Mine hasn't had any issues with the Royal Canine, he just won't eat it anymore. He is very, very picky! Glad to hear the RCanine is helping your little one.

I have a yorkie with IBD. Chicken gives him mucusy poops also. I feed him Natures Recipe Lamb and Rice and the canned Natures Recipe lamb and salmon. The canned is abit pricey,but it works and he's worth it. On ocassion I bake him Tilipia fish. Glad you are on the right track.
