Urinary Tract Infections Has anyone ever heard of Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice for adult dogs causing urinary tract infections? Someone I know who has a breed bigger than a yorkie believes her dog got an infection and "crystals" from eating this food. Never heard of this before, and my yorkies haven't had any problems on it, but I learn something new every day. If this is true, I will look for a better food for my boys. Thanks, Peggy |
crystals and stones can happen if food is too high in protein or it can be due to the dog having liver disease. What is the protein count on that food? |
Google "consumer affairs nutro." there are hundreds of reported illnesses and even death that are said to be cause by Nutro. |

Thanks! Thanks for your replies! I always thought Nutro was a good food, especially since I had a toy poodle who lived to be 17 on it, dying of old age basically. I use the Lite, with lower protein content, since my boys gain weight really fast. Could you tell me what food you use, in the low-cal and lower protein range, that is good for them? I'm hearing good things about Dick Van Patton's Natural Balance. I did try switching them to that and they gained weight so fast, eating the same amount as usual. Thanks again everyone. Peggy |

Thanks so much for the heads up on the Nutro Natural Balance. I'm glad I was so fortunate that my poodle did so well on it, and that my Yorkies have had no problems so far and one of them is 9 years old. I was sorry to see the recall on the Natural Balance food too for the salmonella. It has been so highly rated till now. Do most of you use the Wellness brand at this point? I'm seeing a lot of good things about that one on this forum. And do you know if they make a Lite? Thanks again. This is so helpful and important. Peggy Timothy, Casey and Toby |
