Petsmart to carry Wellness this coming fall Just thought I'd inform those who don't already know, but Petsmart is going to be carrying Wellness (food & treats) this coming Fall 2010. I work at Petsmart where I'm located and I can't tell you how many people have come into our store asking if we carry this brand. |

Just an opinion. |

I'm confused as well. I thought maybe I didn't know something, but I was sure that Wellness isn't part of P&G or Natura products. |
Sorry for the confusion....my girlfriend who owns a pet boutique here in NJ is phasing out Evo, California Natural, Innova (Natura Products) as well as Wellness because both companies have notified her that P&G will be overtaking operations this summer. Her concern is that the quality will decline based on the current pet products P&G are associated with. My confusion was that I thought Wellness and Evo were own by the same. I contact her first and she corrected me. If you google Proctor & Gamble taking over Natura and Wellness, the articles are there. I apologize for confusing everyone....I typed before having all my facts. :o |
And for further clarification I just left her another message in regards to this because I do not want to share incorredct info, so I want her to reconfirm as our convo was rushed earlier because I was at work. She is discontinuing Wellness in her shop because of a major change and I do believe it is a take over. Will update as soon as I speak to her. |
Ok, sorry for the delay...but my friend didn't get back with me last night and I wanted to wait and talk to her today so I understood everything correctly. Obviously, I misunderstood about Wellness being part of Natura (which was purchased by P&G). Her decision to stop selling Wellness came about when they sent her a letter thanking her for her years of support and notifying her of the upcoming changes the company will be making in distribution and production. (Not a buy-out as I had thought, my sincerest apologies, but since I have your attention I would like to share her thoughts.) Wellness contacted her stating that they intended to expand their lines into nationally found franchises. No longer mainly focusing distribution to locally owned "mom & pop shops" like small boutiques and pet feed stores. They also indicated that this would mean changing their production method. She has been unable to get a clarification on exactly what they mean by this. She strongly worries about a change in quality of ingredients used during production. Which I tend to agree with. Wellness is already fairly accessible throughout, which means they are producing a large quantity as it is. What corners will they cut to meet demand when they expand even further? Merely an opinion. And again my sincerest apologies for sharing my misunderstood information. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. I hope all find this corrected information useful and informative in making decisions in the nutrition for their furbabies! :) Have a great day!! |

I can also see why this is an area of concern. I guess we'll have to wait and see and hope they don't make any changes to their formula. I don't feed Wellness and never have but I know many people that do use it and who would be very disappointed if the quality declined. |
Darn, just when we switched. Wonder if they will sell the grain free food. |
Personally I hope the don't change a thing, but I simply don't see how they will be able to handle such mass production without losing some quality. HOPEFULLY I am wrong. We use their venison treats here, but as for kibble we are Orijen, Merrick, and Royal Canin prescription for Coco. |
Wellness is a very good brand and is already widely available, so I wouldn't be too concerned about the quality of their food changing any time soon. I for one, am glad to see these high quality brands starting to become more widely available, I cannot even count how many times someone has come on here or another message board and stated that they want to feed a higher quality food to their dogs and can't because their only options are Petsmart or Petco. |
Petsmart is not going to carry the Grain Free version of Wellness initally, from what wellness told us. |
