I know there is a map identifying the areas where heartworm is prevelant. California, before Katrina had no problem, but still miniscule compared to other parts of the country. But you're right, being Sacramento is a farm country, the possibility of California not spraying for mosquitoes is probably slim. It would be best to keep her on the meds all year around. |

They are prevelent in stagnant water. Even where water is collected in old tires, barrels, etc. If at anytime there is a gap in the heartworm meds. You will have to have your pup retested prior to putting her back on them. |
