Bison...Buffalo meat. Anyone feed this to their yorkie?
 
I've been hearing and reading about this meat, and how good it is supposed to be for you and your dogs. Has anyone tried it or have any information about it? It's supposed to be almost fat-free because it is so lean. I know some people eat it, and love it.

This is the only meat I give my girls, and the only ground meat I use for hamburgers, meat loaf, spaghetti sauce, gulosh and all for my husband. If your dogs can eat beef without having allergies or getting sick, and you want a very lean ground meat then just buy a very lean inexpensive pot roast and have the butcher grind it for you. ;)

I heard that buffalo is so much better than beef for people and dogs, but I wanted to get a reliable second opinion.

I feed raw, and tried the bison, one time...From what I've read, it's an extremely healthy protein...I think it was primal, but maybe Nature's Variety, not sure? Anyway, the kidz loved it (but they've never refused any protein I offered) and I, absolutely, could not stand the smell of it...They get chicken/beef/lamb, duck and, occasionally, rabbit, so I figured they had a nice variety...Honestly, I called the boutique, where I bought the Bison, to be sure it was supposed to smell that way, and he said yes, it was a really strong smelling meat...We finished the 3lb. bag, and that was it for me lol...I'd say go for it, if you don't mind the smell...

We have never had strong smelling bison. It just smells like a nice freshly ground red meat. You should never accept meat that smells strong. :(

We are feeding NV bison raw right now. I don't notice any smell at all to it.
I don't think they love it as much as the venison, but they are eating it.

I used to feed Merrick's Before Grain buffalo flavor. I don't know anything about buffalo but Jackson did well on it!

Some confusion, Yorkiedaze and I are talking about fresh bison, from a grocery store...looks like ground beef, not bison kibbles or dog food.;)

Well, thank goodness, they didn't get sick...they're stools were still nice and firm, no throwing up, or any issues...And, as said, they ate the whole 3# bag?

Yes, the initial question was about "fresh" bison, and not commercial food.
