I have a 5 month old yorkie and her *area* seems to have scabs? I can't wipe it off..
 
or anything. I don't think she is having her period. The vet said it was normal in young dogs? Its like dark brown scabs or possibly dried up blood????? She's still playing and acting normal. I did a urine test too and it came back normal. The vet said that it COULD be vaginitis since she sometimes pees quite often and that I COULD put her on antibotics. But, I find it unnecessary since there's not test to confirm it. What do you think it is?

I just wanted to add that there's like plenty of dark brown tiny spots on her *area*. I just looked and it isn't really scabs.

I think it's an infection-our yorkie had this, put her on antibiotics and it cleared right up. Impt. to treat. Check with a new vet if your vet won't treat.

I would have your little one checked. Belle had something like that and when she was spayed they tested it and it was an infection that could have gotten serious. Antibiotics cleared it up.

Are the spots very small and on the underbelly area surrounding (and possibly on) her vulva area? My Sissy had this and it is a fungal infection. My vet prescribed a yellow, kind-of sticky liquid that I applied twice a day and it cleared it up very quickly.

Yes the spots are very small and it's mostly on her *area*, not on her underbelly area. He just mentioned that it could be vaginitis and I could give her antibotics, but it was only referring to the urine test. They checked it and it was fine, but possible vaginitis since she was peeing often. I guess I should put her on antibotics eventhough there's no actual proof of an infection.

Did the vet do some sort of test to confirm it was an infection or just gave antibotics because it looks like it could be an infection? Should I just put her on antibotics despite the fact there was no actual test to confirm it?

I would ask to have a skin scraping done or a vaginal smear bc if it is fungal it needs an anti fungal cream and if it is bacterial need antibiotics.
