omega oils for ibd dog- advice needed does anyone know if it's ok to give some omega oils to an ibd dog. i read that omega oils can bring down the inflamation in the body. i also read some good reviews about Ark Naturals Royal Coat Express i will be starting the purina en next week and i wanted to add this to it.did anyone used it or any other omega oils or even other supplements to help with their ibd dogs. any feedback is greatly appreciated. thanks |
My dog Daisy has IBS, liver disease, and allergies and she uses omega 3 with excellent results. We do not use omega 6 or omega 9 in our dogs. We use 1 capsule of Nordic naturals. She is 8 lbs - we use a higher, therapeutic dose for her (and we do not follow the dosing on the bottle). This brand is purity tested to be free of things like lead and mercury and was recommended to us by our veterinary nutritionist. Here is the one we use. We use the capsules. does ur dog has IBS or IBD; any flare ups after using this product? thanks |
Yes, it can be given to dogs with IBD and may actually help; but as always, when putting sick dogs on supplements, veterinary guidance is needed. I will be ordering Nordic Naturals for Ellie and she has probable IBD. |
thanks; i am going to ask the vet about this and about vitamin B complex. anyone here gives vitamin B complex to their dogs; if so which one? thanks |
has anyone used Gastri-Soothe i was doing some reading and i saw studies about zinc-carnosine being healing for GI system and ulcers. did anyone ever used this? it's similar to gastricalm Cal Vet Supply - Gastri-Soothe Digestive Supplement - 60 chewable tabs thanks |

She is diagnosed as "possible IBD" The omega-3 at the therapeutic dose of 2x her body weight is reducing her inflammation as a whole (allergy-wise, liver-wise, IBD-wise). She's healthier at almost 10 years old than ever before! |
thanks all for ur help. does anyone use vitamin C and E; if so which supplement? thanks |
