VECTRA--Anyone else have problem with SOAKED hair? Does anyone else have a problem when they apply a whole tube of Vectra 3D. Betty Boop's hair, and I mean ALL of her hair on her back, soaks it up. I only put it on the back between her shoulder blades. She gets completely wet!! I don't know how this happens! I hate to use this stuff because of this! Not sure if other medicines would be any different. I think I'm going to put on a small amount at a time over a couple of days to see if this would alleviate the problem. Any suggestions? Would another brand be better than this? We don't have a flea problem in our yard or house. I did see ONE flea this year and it was KILLED during her bath. The dh has always sprayed the yard each year with insecticide, but I'm afraid to let him do it since we got Betty Boop. |
I had the same problem when I applied it to Raley. I thought it was just "me"! I only used it once and knock on wood haven't needed flea treatment since! |
I was beginning to think it was only "me", too!! This week I applied it to her in 4 applications, 4 days in a row. I guess that is as good as applying it all at once. We have an outside cat that adopted us around 8 to 10 years ago. I'm sure she prowls the neighborhood. I don't see how we can avoid fleas. You're lucky to not have fleas. We have never had any either but since the dh didn't spray this year, I'm afraid we may have some. :( She scratches a little here and there. Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one that has tried Vectra and has had this problem! Thanks for replying. |
here is some info on vectra 3D- can anyone help this owner http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...onia-help.html |
OMG! I can't believe I even put this new medication on my dog! Thank you so much, Dwerten, for the links you provided. I just kept reading and clicking on other poster's links and was very discouraged about this medication. I take Betty Boop in for her 1 year boosters at the end of this month and I'm going to ask the vet if he has had any reported bad side effects from other clients about the Vectra. I'm an avid researcher about new medication. I slipped on this one. I read on other thread where someone used lavender oil mixed with water as was recommended by her holistic vet. She said it has worked. Might be worth a try. Thanks again. |

be careful with essential oils and never do full strength. The derm recommends frontline plus but I do not use flea meds here so others may be best to ask about this. I just saw this over the weekend and started doing a search and saw there were others affected and thought it would help on your thread. |
Vectra D has Permethrin in it. Permethrin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Permethrin is classified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) a likely human carcinogen. |
Rest assured I won't be using it on my baby ANYMORE! |

I use Advantage on my gang because fleas in my area developed a resistance to Frontline. I used Frontline for years. Unless Frontline or Advantage stop working, I feel safer using them since they have been around for years. I love Frontline spray for those of us with toy breed dogs and cats. You can customize dose by weight. Very economical and safe. |
