What do you put in your kong? I'm looking for ideas! Is peanut butter ok? |
I put freeze dried liver treats in Kong's. They're wide enough that they don't fall out and Indy loves trying to work it out. |
they make kong stuffing i put any type of treat in there then cover the hole with peanut butter |
Peanut butter is a great filler. I use to fill the big dog kongs at the shelter with kibble then peanut butter over the hole. It kept the pupsters busy for hours! To bad Kaji doesn't have a taste for peanut butter. He prefers cheese chunks in his, it just doesn't last very long. |
Peanut butter is too high in fat for us so we just use plain nonfat greek yogurt. We fill the kong and then freeze it for a bit (not to deep freeze though) and they just love it. you can also do this with de-fatted chicken brother (freeze it inside the kong). Mine love both options. |
I use fresh ground peanut butter, but no more than once or twice a week. |
I fill mine with treats then cover the top with PB or cream cheese and freeze it. They LOVE it!!! |
Jackson doesn't like PB so we do frozen plain non fat yogurt. |

Ditto - except I never thought of freezing it. What a great idea!!!! |
Another vote for the plain non fat yogurt, frozen. Chloe loves it! Even after all the yogurt is gone, she'll still work at it just in case there is more hidden in there somewhere!!! Keeps her satisfied for a good two hours usually. -C |
I fill it with dog treats then cover the top with cream cheese. She adores it, but even using the special Kong treats that are supposed to last up to two hours, it takes her about 5 minutes to empty it :D She's so clever :P |
Quick question - does anybody else's yorkies chew and eat up their kongs?? They are pricey and get chewed up in a matter of days. I went and bought the black one that supposed to be tougher, we will see. |

I usually cut up some carrots and stick a ton in there for Sasha. It keeps her busy for quite awhile. |

Exhibit A - chewed up kong Exhibit B - Brand new tougher kong Exhibit C - Same as B, only red...however, only had it two weeks and it was so chewed up I had to toss it for safety reasons :biggrin8: |

I add only a tad a peanut butter for flavor and some smashed up banana to fat free plain yogurt and mix it well, stuff, then freeze. |

Coco destroyed ever KONG product we ever purchased, including the black extreme KONG. I actually contacted KONG, and they informed me to go to a bit size. Instead I went to a new product. We now use the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Orbos. Coco & Pickles love them, they even have a minty scent initially. We have 6 of them, including the first 2 that we purchased around a year ago. They are played with daily (this is how the 2 youngest get their dry kibble, not in a bowl, they love it...it's a game). I highly recommend the Planet Dog products, they are very durable. |
Any advice for a sensitive stomach? We are working on only giving homemade treats. She loves busy bones and duck feet. But she isn't getting them anymore trying to be healthier and safer. We have purchased a Kong to replace those special treats but not sure what to fill them with. |
