Science diet for my picky dog!!! :aimeeyorkMy Pixie is so picky! I have tried several dog foods for her. She was eating Royal Canine for yorkies for a while and then started refusing it!!! I am trying Science diet For toy and small breeds now. So far, so good. She eats it well and her bowel movements are small and firm.. I am hoping she will stay on this food, even though I know a lot of peole frown on Science diet here. If she likes it and it agrees well with her, what is the harm. I think its worse on her to keep changing her food every couple months. What do you all think? |
well, I never fed science diet to my dogs but my boss fed it to his westies and they lived to the ancient age of 17. Do what you think is best as each person must make their own choices and that choice should be based on all of your individual factors (budget, dog preference, convenience, and whatever else you think is important). Good luck :) |
Like Barney said, do what you think is best for your pup. It's better than her going off food completely. Since you asked for opinions, I think there is better food out there for our pupsters. Both Royal Canin and Science Diet are way to greasy feeling for me. If I can feel the grease, it makes me want to cringe. I digress, as long as she is eating, has no tummy aches, and her poops are nice and firm there really isn't that big of a problem. |
I just changed my babies' food and bought them Science diet too. They were on Nutro Max. I was just comparing and saw that the first ingredient is actually chicken and not chicken meal. So far so good. But they are picky eaters. Wouldn't you get sick of eating the same thing day in day out? :) |
We are trying to switch foods too. From Science Diet Small Bites for puppies to Royal Canin. She gets eye boogers, has like 4-5 bowel movements per day and her vet told us 2 is the ideal number... Its greasy, its got corn as the 1st ingredient and my girl is getting "pimples". |
Oh, but her poop is firm and small. Sometimes, she's a bit gassy :S |
