allergies while on prednisone? is it possible to develop allergies to purina ha while on prednisone so quickly. she has been eating purina for a little over one week; not 100% transitioned yet. i mixed it with turkey and oatmeal however she started itching and licking her paws again; it looks like she's allergic to soy. would hills ultra z/d or purina en be better in this case? anyone had better success with these? thanks |
Me personally, I had the best success with my Westie's allergies (they are notoriously famous for skin/enviromnental allergies) with Blue Buffalo Duck Formula. It is grain free, no chicken . . . This is the best allergy season he has had so far. I did have to give him a Zyrtech yesterday. |
i forgot to mention she has chronic IBD; so she can't eat everything. that's why she's on the prescription diet. we tried iams low residue wet food ;she relapsed after 2 months. now i am home cooking and transition the purina ha; and she already started itching no itching on homecooking before (ground turkey and oatmeal); the itching started when i introduced the purina ha thanks |
This is why i say steroids do not stop a food allergy as if they itch while on steroids then most likely food related. Just my opinion from my experience as well as on allergy dog group |
i think she might be highly allergic to the soy; well i am taking back the food and trying the purina EN; and hoping that works. if that doesnt i was looking at the EVO venision canned food; it has no grains. this might be good for her a high quality food. but not sure about the protein and fat content; if she will be able to digest it. they state on their site that it's highly digestible Meat-Based Pet Food – Premium Dog Food, Cat Food, Ferret Food, Dog Treats – EVO Pet Products i will ask her vet |
It IS hard to find the right food when they have multiple problems. Hope you find one that works for you! |
