Yorkie Scratching I have a 4 year old (3.5 lb) female Yorkie. She scratches all the time. I changed her food from dry to raw...no success! Would really love to hear if anyone has a solution. Thank You. |
sounds like environmental allergies :( 90% of the time it is environmental not food but raw is not a bad way to feed in allergy dogs if not on immune suppressant drugs but some still do raw with immune suppressant drugs for cancer dogs and allergy dogs. Ann on here feeds raw and her dog is on atopica i believe but hopefully she will post as well. I will go post an informative thread as i wrote alot of info about it since i have an allergy dog too |
scratching that's good you switched on the scratching what shampoo do you use? and do you use a conditioner. Have you ever done a oil treatment? just some ideas we use hope this helps. Cheryl |
here is the thread with info to hopefully help http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...y-what-do.html |
Just curious how long ago you switched the food. You will not see immediate results if it is a good allergy. It could take up to a couple of months. We find at the clinic I manage that more of our allergy dogs have food allergies and not environmental. I am sure it is different all over. You could try some Benedryl if you have not already (1 mg per lb) and you can give it 3-4 times a day. Give it a few day to get into the system. It is so hard having an itchy baby. Also are you using some kind of flea control?? |
How much corn was in the dry food? |
