Healthy treats for Kong? Hammer loves his pacifier Kong.. but the Kong treats are just way to pricey and just way to unhealthy for my liking. Not a fan of the stuffing, string cheese look a like stuff you can squeeze inside. Any ideas on other things I can stuff in there? Are carrots okay? Any other suggestions? |
I mean, you can pretty much stuff anything in there, lol. :) I buy plain non fat yogurt, fill it up inside the Kong, and then put in the freezer. He looovesss frozen yogurt. Sometimes I'll also put little pieces of his Zukes treats in there so it gets frozen in the yogurt. A lot of folks also put frozen peanut butter in the Kong, but Jackson doesn't like peanut butter so we don't do this, lol. I dog-sit for a Cocker Spaniel, and he gets these peanut butter biscuits that fit right in there... and he works for a while trying to get it out. |
Like Britster said, pretty much anything that fits inside can be used. If you want to replace a meal you can use canned dog food, freeze it for extra work, sweet potato or smashed banana mixed with some kibble. |
i LOVE the frozen peanut butter idea :) such good ideas. I'm just not that creative. |
The Kong website has lots of recipes for homemade stuffings too:) |
