harness suggestions Hello Everyone, I recently took Pepito to the vet for his annual shots and the vet noticed his goose honking cough and said it sounded like the beginning signs of tracheal collapse. I have tried a few different harnesses with him and I feel they suck and am looking at suggestions for ones that have been successful. He's a bigger Yorkie at 15 lbs and extremely athletic and strong. Oh we also go for really long hikes a lot so something that is durable as well. I have a gentle leader and he spends more time dragging his face on the ground trying to get it off than walking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by myself and of course by Pito.:):animal-pa |
I would suggest the Buddy Belt. They are great harnesses, made of leather, don't go around the neck, easy to put on and very durable. They can be a little expensive (the larger size dog the higher the price) but well worth the investment. The link I provided is to the Buddy Belt website but I know you can find them on ebay and other websites too. Welcome to BUDDY BELT (A Division of Class Art Productions Inc.) |
I agree with JenCar, go for the Buddy Belt. They are comfortable, but very durable and they put zero strain on the neck. Both my boys use Buddy Belts. |
I've always used the step in choke free harness and like them very much  CHOKE FREEŽ HARNESS & LEADS |
Chattiesmom (that's her username here) makes beautiful step-in harnesses with matching leads. She can make them in a sturdier size for your bigger baby (I've got two large yorkies too and I love her harnesses, but I prefer the thicker size). They don't come anywhere near the neck, the dogs don't chew them, and they come in an astounding variety of colors. Good luck! |
