Is it wise to ask for Blood work even though... she seems healthy? She's almost 4 months and I don't actually know how much blood work would cost. I was hoping that a blood work would tell us something that would be a concern in the future. If there would be something affecting her in the future perhaps through genetics, maybe the blood work can warn me about it? |
If you are talking about preop bloodwork, then absolutely yes. If it's just checking things out, then sure, couldn't hurt and may alert you to things. Absolutely necessary at least once yearly when they turn 6 or 7. Bile acids testing for Yorkies that appear healthy should not be done until at least 20 weeks. |
It's always a good idea to have a baseline blood panel in their file...that way you can tell if something changes later. Pre-op bloodwork tells how the liver and kidneys are functioning and if your pet's system can handle anesthesia. I would recommend having it done especially with a puppy. |
