Strange pee behavior after trip - Help We took our 6 month old Yorkie on a weekend trip which included a 9 hour car ride. He has been almost potty trained. We have had problems with car sickness in the past but a 1/4 tab of Bonine and no breakfast seemed to fix that problem. We offered him water and stopped for pee breaks throughout the trip and gradually fed him some biscuits to hold him over until we arrived at our destination. He seemed happy, played and slept. Once we arrived he really didn't like to potty outside, (It was a college townhouse development - Yuck) so he used the pee pad. Now that we are back home I'm noticing that he is squatting frequently (in places other than the pad) and peeing small amounts. At first I thought he was marking but he doesn't even lift his leg. Any thoughts? M |
I just saw this post and hopefully you will get more responses, but I am wondering about a UTI (urinary tract infection). This happens frequently with male cats. Does he pee regularly ever now? Or is it always just small amounts? Is he peeing in unusual spots etc? If this continues I would definitely get that checked out by the vet. Also watch to see if he tries to pee but doesn't do anything and how frequently that happens. Is he getting plenty of fluids. Note those things before you talk to the vet so he has something to work with. |
He could have a UTI I would bring in a urine sample to the vet. turn the peed pad upside down so the plastic side is up and once he pees on it pour it into a clean bottle. Pixie was peeing all over the place after her spay and she had a UTI. |
