Miss Ellie loves peanut butter Personally, I hate the stuff and would never allow it in the house. But after reading on here that Yorkies love it, I picked up a jar at the grocery store for Miss Ellie. She absolutely loves it and licks her lips long after it's all gone. Question is, how much is too much? No doubt she would eat nothing else if I let her but that ain't gonna happen. :) |
I,m not sure how much would be to much, I would guess maybe a teaspoon as a treat would be fine, but do remember it has salt in it. |
depends what kind your buying... regular peanut butter has a lot of salt, sugar and fat in it so you dont want to give too much... if you are buying organic peanut butter with no added salt or sugars you could give it more often without issue. |
It is very high in fat, as well! :welcome4: |

IMHO, I would only give an 1/8 of a teaspoon 2-3 times a day. Or save it for when you need to give pills... Also depends on the size of the dog... but you don't want it to interfere with their regular food. |
Thanks all. Time to find some organic peanut butter. |
Thank God for PB. It's the only way I get out of the house in the mornings:p I buy the low fat and smear it around the inside of a natural bone, adding a few cheerios to it then drop 4 drops of Rescue Remedy on it give to Buddy and run out the door:D. He's so busy licking his bone he dosen't care I leave and hopfully tired when it's empty and goes to sleep until I get home. |
You're lucky! I wish Jackson would like peanut butter. lol. I'm always looking for something to entertain him and stuff in his Kong but he takes one little lick and looks at me like it's gross or something. He's such a weirdo! I've started putting plain no fat yogurt into the Kong and freezing it. |
what a great idea Brister! I am going to start putting plain no fat yogurt into Winston's Kong and freezing it. He loves plain yogurt but now the least bit interested in anything I have put in his Kong yet. Let you know how it works out. thanks again |
