Why homemade or raw? Ok, since Innova has been bought out by P&G, I will be looking for a new way to feed Rhett. I see a lot of you advocate raw or homemade food, but why? Could you point me in the direction of some good articles on why I should consider this route. Thanks in advance. |
I started after the recalls. IMO, human foods are recalled faster and the ingredients are somewhat better than those in animal food. We don't do raw at all. No articles on why you should homecook because I don't really recommend it. Great for those who want to put in the time, money, and effect. Not for everyone... The best advice I can give you is if you want to feed homecooked, the recipes that meet AAFCO guidelines are the safest. |
read this I posted this in another thread "your Yorkie deserves better" in the General discussion section. Rendering Plants Recycling of Dead Animals and Slaughterhouse Wastes |

If you google raw diet dog you'll find some websites, also there are several yahoo groups that have given me lots of information. From personally experience- I started feeding Duke raw about 3 weeks ago. In three weeks these are the changes I've seen: 1. harder stool- you would never guess that his stool is from a German shepherd 2. cleaner teeth- I for one was horrible with teeth brushing (i know shame on me) his teeth are MUCH better now 3. less shedding. Duke was laying down by my boyfriend and I the other day and while I had noticed it I thought I could be imagining it. But my boyfriend mentioned it as well. 4. Duke likes food now. he was never a big eater on kibble, but now when I ask if he wants to eat he gets excited! I am seriously very excited that I switched. I tell everyone about it. P.s. He was on EVO before so it wasn't like he was eating crap. |
