Madison Loses weight
 
3 weeks ago we stopped using evo after Madison started gaining weight. We started on Primal raw and acana dry. Madison has lost 1/4 inch around her ribs in the 3 weeks! yay! I'll take her to the vets office tomorrow to get her exact weight. But she does look smaller and not so thick!
I was worried her being overweight would only make only make her LP worse. Not to mention other health issues.

I am a mommy on a mission. I want healthy dogs! Lexie my maltese is a little skinny dog and I don't have to worry about her weight. But Madison's not even 2 yet and we don't want her ...how shall we say...healthy appetite to create knee and other problems..

I give mine Wellness and I worry about mine gaining weight too. I don't want their knees to be bad because of excess weight. They are Morkies and they weren't suppose to get over 4lbs and 6lbs. Now they are nearly 6 lbs and 8lbs. (I know that being a mixed you can never know) Is there a way to tell how much they should weigh according to their height?

Your furbabies are adorable.

I don't know if by height there's a way to tell. Maybe someone with more experience then I will be able to answer your question.

My two biewers are the same height/length but one weighs about 6 pounds more than the other. They are both at healthy weights, one just has a much larger frame and bone structure - even his feet are about 3 times the size of the other's. The best way I've heard to determine if they're at a healthy weight is by feeling their ribs. If you can feel them easily, without having to push into the flesh to find them, then they are at a good weight. At least, that's the way my vet has taught me to keep check of their weight levels.

This is what I've heard and read also. and when they are laying on their sides they should look like they have a 'waist'

Evo is notorious for packing the weight on because it is so high in fat. Most Evo feeders I know feed less than the amount recommended on the bag.
