Possible Ectopic Ureter I have posted about this before but I am growing increasingly concerned. I took my female to the vet a few weeks back because I noticed she kept dribbling drops of wee for no reason. The vet told me it could be due to various things but he said chances of it being a UTI were slim because he felt her bladder etc and she had no direct pain or swelling. He said it could be a hormone imbalance, or an Ectopic Ureter which means she has lack of control over the valve which allows her to wee. I am however a little disappointed that he never tested further and just sent her home with no antibiotics or anything. He said i must watch her for her first heat but she has definitely not come into heat yet. Her symptoms/behaviour is as follows: · I have seen her wee twice in a week. And she ALWAYS wee’s on the bricks not the grass so I would notice where she wee’s and I have been very observant of her because I have been home with her a lot this week. · When she does wee it leaves behind almost a stain – like a white patch which has never happened before. · She seems incontinent at times only and I have regularly seen her dribbling drops of wee as she is walking. Or sometimes she wets herself while lying quietly on the couch with us for no reason. · This morning she jumped into her bed while I was leaving for work and I went to tuck her in and her blanket had fresh wee on it. She was embarrassed and ran out the security gate and hid in case she was in trouble. It’s like it happens and she gets upset about it. · A few weeks ago I had a few stains of wee/blood on the tiles. · She is 8 months old · She does not seem to have any abdominal pain · She is eating and drinking as normal · She is licking herself a LOT · At other times her wee is normal and she seems to have no problem at all Am I being paranoid? Has anyone else had a problem like this? Or more specifically had a dog with an Ectopic Ureter? I'm signing her up for pet medical aid today so that at least I can take her and have her checked out again (perhaps by a different vet) and know it is covered. I just don’t want her to have any pain L |
IDK...it sounds like a UTI  |
I would find another vet and get a second opinion. It does not sound normal to me at all, and it could get much worse if it continues. Please keep us updated! |
