Generic Heartgard?? Any experience with this? I was looking online to buy the Heartgard.. I bought 3 months worth at the vet for $12.00 found this ,anyone know anything about it?? I was just wondering,,kinda scares me,, Might stick to getting it at the vet.. Where do you get yours? Does everyone use Heartgard? Generic HeartgardŽ Blue Alternative (Ivermectin) Small Dog Under 25 lbs (<11kg) - 6 month supply This hugely popular generic contains exactly the same active active ingredient (Ivermectin) in exactly the same concentration as HeartgardŽ Blue. The tablets have a meat-flavored base that is attractive to dogs. With a generic you are not sacrificing on quality. You are getting exactly the same product effectiveness without paying for the expensive brand. Dosage: One tablet monthly for dogs under 25 lbs (<11kg) Current batch expiry date: November 2006 (or later) |
I would think that generic would be just as good and you can ask your vet to make sure. ONLY thing is that they req. a script and the vets around me CHARGE for one. So it makes it cost more to get it online than if I just went to them in the first place! |
I buy the same generic Heartguard from Australia..no prescription needed..several members ehre do also. |
I am sure the genric version is the same as the authentic. It would be just like our prescriptions. |
Thanks, good to know.. they had a price of $18 for 6 months I paid 12.99 for 3 months at the vet. Didn't check the shipping though. |
I think you found a great deal, but I would check with your vet. :) |
In the town my mom lives in the vet offers a generic Heartguard. She brought some down last time she came for my big dogs, didn't have Reagan yet. I also have a friend who is close with a vet and she herself works with animals a lot and says that you can get a liquid version of Ivermectin at the co-op(for cheap) and said to ask my vet that he should agree but I haven't asked yet so I don't know for sure. |
CanadaVet is selling generic Heartgard with no prescription and free shipping on orders over $38. For 24 tabs (my 2 Yorks one year), its just $57 and change. I know Vets depend on otc sales as well as office visits so I have to save where I can. Canada meds good enough for humans, good enough for Rover IMO. |
I was concerned at first about the generic..but vet assured me and i've been giving it to ALL my dogs not just my yorkies. NO problems! And the price is a lot easier on the ole purse. |
Today I ordered the generic from Austrailia for $58 for 24 tabs. I went with this company because they have the tabs in meat flavor. Ive never had a problem shoving the pills down the throat on any dog but my new puppy (seen in avatar) is very reluctant in this area so far. I'd much rather get them to eat the meds. She loves her antibiotics she is taking right now for a cough (the pink colored kind). |
