When to feed senior food? At what age do you switch a Yorkie from adult food to senior food? |
Senior food has less fat...Is your yorkie getting overweight? |
No she is not getting overweight. She is 6 pounds and that is perfect for her. I was just wondering because we also have a basset hound who's life expectancy is much shorter then that of a Yorkie. The vet said that I should begin with senior food at age 6 for him. Emma, my Yorkie, is 7 and I just adopted her a week ago. I just didn't know if she should be on senior food or adult food. |
Usually as they get older they slow down and they do not need the protein or the fat...I would not switch them over if they are still very active. If you see some weight gain then I would but they will not be happy. It is hard to try and make a dog lose weight after the fact..just like us. I really do not think it is an age thing for either dog but an activity level...just like us. |
Oh OK. Thank you for the information! :) |
