neuter incision question So Joey and Tank were neutered on sunday, and I am a touch concerned for Tank. His incision doesn't look red, swollen, or infected, but it does look like it could break open. It looks like they maybe didn't put a couple stitches where they should have, because you can see the side of the skin that was cut in a couple spots, if that makes sense. What should we do? Is gorilla gluing it an option? I would rather not take him for more stitches, and we can't be home with them all day every day (though after tomorrow, I have saturday and sunday off of work, so they will be with me) to watch them. It basically looks like it was cut, then not lined up exactly when stitched. I am worried that it will not heal correctly or that it will break open - any suggestions/advice? |
could he possibly have internal stitches? I know that Hot Rod had dissovlable stitches and one was poking out for a long time and all of a sudden it was gone. |
I wouldn't use Gorilla glue on his incision. Has he been licking? That could be what is causing it to separate. You are now 5 days postop so the vet is not going to put more stitches into his incision. Do you have either a onsie or a ecollar that you could put on him so that he cannot lick? If I were you I would give your vet a call in the morning to be sure he does not need to be seen. |
ok, thanks! I think I have some baby pants or something I could stick him in...maybe a pair of panties or something, hehe :) I will not gorilla glue...They are dissolvable stitches, yes. |

MIckey had his done just a month ago. There were internal stitches that we could not see and then metal type on the outside. He had to go back after 10 days to have those removed. I thought it was strange having the metal ones because Max did not. But Max had all kinds of issues and even had to go on anti-biotics because he opened the site up. Mickey's was perfectly healed. After the metal was removed there was just a tiny line. Also we ordered a Soft E Cone collar from Mom to Hot Rod. We loved that collar! :thumbup: I would take the pup in for a check just to be sure. Especially if it starts weeping or looks raw in any way. |
Gorilla Glue Warning I see that you are not going to use Gorilla glue after all....but wanted to post this for everyone to see. I personally would not even keep that stuff in my home!
