Raw??? What the heck is a raw food diet??? |
Feeding your dog raw meat. No kibble or cooked. I just started the switch from EVO to raw a few days ago and my dog loves it so far! |
raw meat?? do you mean raw hamburger, beef, etc? |
Yup! Chicken, fish, pork, venison, etc. I am still learning so I'm not the best resource, but if you google dog raw diet you will get lots of information. Some people feed a premade raw diet, others buy the meat from a store and feed it like that. I am choosing the meat from a store option because with my dog being 110lbs a premade raw diet can get expensive real fast! |

110 lbs? but doesn't raw meat have bad bacteria in it, especially raw chicken. |
He is a German shepherd, not a yorkie :) You can see pictures here- About Poochieheaven- Dog Carriers, Dog Clothing, Dog Beds Here is a good FAQ about raw- Raw Feeding FAQ The way I look at a raw diet is that, in the "wild" dogs were made to eat meat- deer, turkeys, rabbits, etc. I just got done reading this book- and I don't think I could go back to kibble even if I wanted to... hopefully someone with more knowledge can answer your questions better as I am just learning. But things I have noticed already after about a week: 1. Poop is smaller- it no longer looks likes it came from a german shepherd. it is also hard which helps with some anal gland issues he had. 2. he teeth are already starting to get better, which is great because I am horrible at brushing them 3. he loves it. He never was a big eater, but is not excited for his food |
Raw diet All my dogs eat raw meat and raw bones. Our newest addition is Emily, la yorkie. I did a 25% raw meat to 75% kibble. By the third day, she didn't want her kibble. Raw meat digests in less than 8 hours, kibble made from grains can take up to 12 hours. |
