Stinky Dog! Its me again......I have noticed in the 2 weeks that I have had Roxie that she really stinks..lol..If I wash her she will smell ok for maybe 2 days..tops..but then she starts smelling again. Her ears and skin seem to be fine, teeth are ok, other than she needs a good cleaning. Its worse after its hot outside and then she comes in the house. Just curious, is it because she gets oily very quickly , or is this even normal? I was told by the groomer than some yorkies do stink and its normal? Any ideas or suggestions. I did purchase a spray for her that is supposed to make her smell "fresher" and it works somewhat. Thanks for any help.:animal-pa |
Have you discussed this with your vet? May need to change up on her food. Have her ears been checked? |
Well I just recently got her and she was eating Kibbles and Bits..yuck..I have switched her to Royal Canin Yorkie, which I know isnt the greatest, but its the only thing she will eat and I figure its better than the Kibbles and Bits. As far as her ears, I do need to get her in to my vet for a checkup. I will let everyone know what he says. Thanks! |

I appreciate any and all suggestions. I am def. going to have it checked out. Thanks again. |
Can you actually sniff in her ears and see if the odor is originating there? Also is there a distinct odor? Does it smell like oil or poop or yeast? |
Her ears dont smell, and I have looked at them, they do not appear red or sore? She smells like a nasty wet dog, thats the only real way to describe it. |
Not sure if this will help with Roxie but Cissy had the same stinky problem. I bath her every weekend but after a couple of days, she smelled like she hadn't had a bath in months. I tried different shampoos (no difference) and it wasn't until I tried the Yorkie Splash/Shine that I noticed a BIG difference. You may want to give it a try and see if it helps Roxie as much as it did Cissy. Cissy now smells like the sweetie she is. ;) I am so thankful we now have this product. Good Luck! |
Is she rollling around on something in the yard? |
If it's an odor that just never seems to go away it can be seborrhea, they make drops for that.. |
