Dry Itchy Skin Hello, I am Holly and Jayjay's mom, we have two wonderful yorkies, they too think they are people. I have a terrible time getting these two to eat, very picky. Mainly want people food. I prepare chicken for them a lot. I just know I have to find something that is good for them to eat and healthy for them. My little girl has terrible dry skin and now her hair is becoming dry, I just do not know what to do to help her and I am not really satisfied with my vet. Any answers Holly and Jayjay would be happy for, mom too. Thank you in advance for any information. Carolyn Little Mason WV |

An oatmeal base shampoo/conditioner can be helpful with itchy skin. You might want to try that. Be sure to read the Health & Diet Section on yt. You should find some helpful suggestions. Be sure to read human food that is harmful to dogs. It may be necessary to experiment w/different dog foods to find one they will eat. Some dog food companies will send you free samples. That's a good way to see if they're interested. If yours are real young, you should soak the kibble while they are so young. Be sure to choose a good quality brand for them. Some people food is fine for them, but it can also encourage them to be picky. Feeding from the table is an absolute no-no at our house. It usually creates a lifetime of begging & barking. I may put a few pieces of food in her bowl now & then, but as a rule, it's only dog food. Roxy did very well on Wellness Puppy food & now Wellness Small Breed. The kibble is nice & small for her. Larger kibble she just plays with. She is showing signs of getting bored w/her current food, so have decided to get find 2-3 good brands that she likes and cycle them. I think it may help her to keep interest better. I want her to rely on her dog food so she has a better chance of having a balanced diet. Good luck! |
