Diji has Ear infection! :( I took Diji to the vet today for his 3rd round of shots. I told the vet about his smelly ears and she had a look inside. His ears are full of yeast. Turns out, the breeder we got him from must have a problem with ear mites. My poor baby cried so much when she put the ear drops in. I'm so nervous because tonight I have to put the drops in his ears and I don't want to hurt him. The drops are a course of 10 days. I've never had a dog with ear infection and it's pretty strange because I myself have problems with chronic ear infection... hehe. I just hope Diji's pain goes away. Has anyone ever had issues with ear infections with their furbabies that is? |
The little stray I found had an ear infection. A really bad one. The ear drops were not at all hard to put in. I am sure you will be fine. I was nervouse too, because my other dog is a big mutt and this guy is so tiny. It worked out and was not hard. He is feeling so much better now that his personality is coming through. Good luck you will do fine. |

Yes, they aren't uncommon in Yorkies. We have yeast infection in ears issues all the time. :( A drying solution should be used everytime his ears get wet. |

There are many choices though. If you search drying ear cleaner on YT, you will probably get lots of suggestions. |

Best Way - Recipe for Canine Ear Antifungal Drops | eHow.com "Another simple solution is to chop a clove to garlic into 2 tbsp. of rubbing alcohol, which is a drying agent. The garlic, as will apple cider vinegar, is a potent enemy of bacteria and fungus. Let the combination set for a half an hour; place a few drops in each ear and massage in. If the dog is in the water often, it may be a good idea to do this treatment once a week in the summer to keep the ears clean, dry and protected against bacteria and fungus that lurk in water. Some other good substances include tea tree oil, clove oil, oil of oregano and lavender oil. These are available in natural food stores and have many uses in remedies for both humans and canines. A good combination that dries and protects the ear canals is to combine an equal amount of rubbing alcohol with one of these oils. These oils all have a pleasant scent and will not harm your pet." Do you think this would be safe to try? |
