Omega Caps? I have tried to research my questions before posting them, so I am not asking the same thing over and over...but..I do have a question. :) I purchased Omega caps made by Naturpet (i think), are these ok to give to Roxie every day. She has been having some issues with itchy skin. Thanks! :confused::confused: |
I would check the back of the bottle to see what dosage is recommended for what particular sized animal; and then compare that to the weight of your dog. The link below might give you some added information to compare with how your dosage compares (with your particular brand), to others. Whether you give them one everyday will depend on the amount per capsule that is recommeded by the manufacturer. Hope this helps PROVET |
Thanks so much for the link; I looked at the back of the bottle that I purchased, and it says to give one capsule per 15 lbs. of body weight, well Roxie only weighs 7 lbs. So should I just give her one every other day? There is no possible weigh to split it in half, I should have read that before purchasing. Oh well....Thanks so much again for your reply. |

Is the pill a gel or a tablet? If it is a tablet then you could purchase a pill cutter which is fairly cheap usually sold at pharmacy's, and just cut it in half. Dromie gets her allergy meds like this. If it is a gel, I would puncture a whole in the bottom of it with a toothpick, and then squeeze half of it on her food; wrap it and place it hole side up in a cup in the fridge for the next day. I do that with the omegas that I use for my pups. It comes in a gel form, and the dosage is also twice the recommended, so I only do half per day. Hope this helps. |
the omega fish oil i like is Welcome to Nordic Naturals - the omega 3 for dogs as has no mercury and is sardines and anchovies |

if you supplement with fish oil you have to give vitamin E as fish oil depletes the body of vitamin e and why i like the nordic naturals as it contains vitamin e to balance |
The kind I bought is at the following link, and it is in the gel form. I did what lil fu fu girl recommended and punctured the bottom with a toothpick and gave her half of it. It worked better than I expected. Here is that link.. NaturVet Omega Gel Caps 180 Ct. |
