HELP! Yorkie in Heat.... My almost one year old Yorkie is in heat and our Jack Russell who we had fixed is going crazy for her...What is going on? Is there anything we can do? We ARE going to get her fixed soon...I bathe her frequently to hopefully dull the scent..Poor Luke doesn't know what to do..he's whining and trying to mount her but doesn't know why. I feel horrible. |

I would separate them... even though there is no risk of pregnancy, if they are both upset it is probably best to just keep them apart for now. Good Luck. |
Yes, best to avoid all the craziness and just separate them. Out of sight...out of mind, hopefully. |
Even neutered males will react to a female in heat. They can even tie so don't let him mount her as either one could be injured. Keep them separated for the next few weeks and make an appointment to have her spayed as soon as safely possible after she comes out of heat. |
Absolutely separate them and to avoid the craziness, have a whole room between them, not just a door. i';m n ot sure if they will spay them when they are in heat, but I would get it done as soon as possilbe. |
Thank you -- I think I may have Luke stay at my Mom's where he'll get plenty of attention, treats, and be far away from Zoe! |
