smelly breath after teeth removal Pixie was spayed yesterday and had some baby teeth removed. Her breath is awful! I was just wondering if this is normal and if there was anything I could do to help it. Her kisses are DEADLY!! lol |

Is she on anti-biotics in case of any infection? |

I remember my Daisy Mae really had a stinky odor after her spay and teeth removal. I would call the vet or bring her in just to make sure she don't have a infection going on. |

Our vet is having her take an anti-biotic for three days prior and 2 days after. I honestly can't recall if we did that when Wrigley was spayed and had her teeth removed as a puppy though. I would just suggest checking with you vet to see. |
I called the Vet and they said that it is normal after surgery for them to have bad breath and that it should go away in a few days. I just posted another problem that has started today. Pixie is peeing everywhere!!! She peed on my couch and on my chase and in the hallway!! She is fully pad trained and NEVER has accidents unless she gets over excited. the vet told me to drop off a urine sample does anyone know how to collect a urine sample? Gee I should of just rung out my couch:eek: Thank God I just bought a steam cleaner and it works amazing!! |

Mickey's breath still smelled for a few days after his neuter/teeth pullings. Maybe a week. He had a lot of teeth pulled. Not sure how many because the vet said they were already really loose she just helped them out. His breath is almost normal now. :) |

Her breath smells better today and she had a UTI. The vet said that I caught it early and I was thinking to myself well ...........duh she did not have it before the spay!! Anyways he gave me an antibiotic. Today she is back to herself and feeling like her firecracker self!! I am so relieved. What a weekend I am so exhausted from all the stress. Thanks everyone for all the help and support!! |

It could be the blood on the gums. Just like when people get their teeth pulled the blood does have an odor. Cerise was sent home with antibiotic and pain combination, but it probably was because she was also spayed. Her breath did smell for two days but she is doing great now. |
