Snoring? Hi! This is about my mother's yorkie, Simon. I was dog-sitting the other evening and noticed that Simon snores (pretty loudly) in his sleep. I was just wondering if this is a sign of something unhealthy, or if it is normal for some dogs. I don't remember him snoring when I was younger and lived at home, and Bender doesn't snore. Sometimes he whines and moves his legs like he's chasing something in his sleep (I figure dreaming) but never snores. Any ideas? |
I'm not sure if I can be of much help - except to say that my little girl snores (rather loudly) at times during the night, yips and looks like she's running. I asked my vet and he said it is normal. He told me if the snoring bothered me, just try to move her a little and it usually works. I notice she snores when she is really tired. |
my brothers dog snores, but we always figured it was because he was so BIG..... you just proved our theory wrong ;) i guess its just one of those things some dogs do it and some dont..... you know how humans have more of a tendency to snore if they are overweight? or other factors..... do you think that holds true with dogs as well???? |
It's possible. Simon is nicknamed Tubby for that very reason. He is a 13lb yorkie! Because of this I'm always worried about his health. I mean, Bender is 4lbs...you can fit more than 3 Bender's inside 1 Simon! |
Mandy snores when she has had a long day. I guess they get really tired. |
Mickey snores some times . He also groans and moans when hes stretching in his sleep. |
i had a question along these lines too... sometimes when Crunchy's sleeping he'll suddenly jerk, make some odd noises and his eyes will be moving rapidly. is this cause for worry? or is he just dreaming or something? it just kinda scares me. |
I've always figured that to be dreams. The eye movement is a normal part of sleep. People do it too, it's called the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep. I was just worrying over Simon because he is chunky and snores from moment 1 of sleep lately. I think your Crunchster is just fine  |
Both of mine snore when they are REALLY pooped out........but then again so do I according to my husband ;) |
Gizmo snores a LOT and always while we are watching tv! LOL |
