Greasy Coat Hi everyone, I have a quick simple question. I take my precious Bentley to the groomer every Saturday morning for a bath, is coat is fluffy and beautiful until Tuesday the next week when he simply looks like a grease pit. Could it be the shampoo she uses? Can I buy something to use at home to prevent this? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Karen |
is your dog a puppy if so is the groomer using a puppy shampoo or regular as puppy shampoos are more drying due to puppies having an oilier coat so i would recommend your groomer using a puppy shampoo - if older dog then thyroid is of concern |

He is a puppy, I will certainly ask about the shampoo but now that you mention it I bet that is the case... Do you have a suggestion for a great brand? |

Oh no, I am sure he has had enough bath time for a long time, poor baby. |
My bentley gets to be the same way sometimes... If he runs outside a lot. But... you might be bathing him too much. over bathing him will cause his body to produce more sebum (oil) than he would normally because he is being dried out too often. dry diff shampoos or go every 2-3 weeks for a few months and see if that helps |

It can also be a sign of skin allergies. |
Thank you all very much for your help, I never thought of bathing him too much or skin allergies. I will speak to the groomer and start with changing shampoo process of elimination. |
Toby's Mom I have a yorkie who is 4 years old & has always had greasy skin. I have tried numerous shampoos & nothing seems to help. I give him a bath once a week, but in about 3 days he is greasy again. The vet doesn't seem concerned. If you find anything that helps please let me know.:aimeeyork |
