Ear Infections?? How do you know?? When I clean Trixie's ears, some brown gunk comes out onto the qtip....is this normal? It doesn't smell or anything and she was just at the vets two weeks ago for her first "get to know you" visit and the vet checked her ears. We will be back there soon for her 3rd round of puppy shots. I was just wondering...how can you tell if it is an ear infection?? :animal-pa |
Trust me you will know if it is an infection because it smells very bad , she will be crying and she will not let you touch her ears. That brown stuff is probably just ear wax. |
Sometimes, your pup may start scratching, right behind the ear (s), even 'though they don't have fleas...My little Buzzy Boy is prone to fungus in his ears, and he lets me know when to treat him, by scratching behind his ears, and we do a little round of anti-fungal/anti-inflamatory drops...since your going to the vet, pretty soon, go ahead and express your concern about the ears, and he/she will probaby advise you about this... |

Signs of an inner ear infection can include: head shaking, ear scratching, irritability, balance problems stinky black or yellowish discharge redness or swelling in ear canal |
Thank you all so very much! She seems just fine..a little ear scratching, but not much. I will speak to the vet next week about it. :animal-pa |
could be yeast - is it dark brown  |
I would have the vet check it out as it might be ear mites as my puppy came with ear mites :( and it was dark brown in the ears :( if they have an ear infection they will shake their head and itch at their ears sometimes rub their ears on the floor as well and there is an odor in the ears |
