Cody's Bladder Stones/Problem Hi. Cody is 7. He has now had bladder stone surgery twice withing 15 months. He has the calcium oxolate type. He is doing fine from surgery except now he is having peeing accidents in the house. Has anyone else's dog had this problem. The Vet said this should stop happening eventually. It is extremely frustrating because I don't want to confine him when we are at work but I can't keep having him have accidents. He once stood in front of us and peed after we had taken him out. Any help would be appreciated |
I have not had a dog with calculi yet. However, I wanted to ask you if you have pee pad trained him or if he is specifically an outdoor dog? edited to add: If perhaps you left pee pads in the place where he is going, when you are gone,it would cut down on the frustration in the meantime. |
Katie had bladderstone surgery. She is a owner surrender so i don't really know HOW trained she was before I picked her up. She was going a lot too, a few drips here and there. I think it may be habit from them needing to go all the time, but then not wanting to bc of the pain. I had her sectioned off in a small area until she got better at it. She goes outside better, but if it's late or cold I don't want to go outside, so I want to train her on pads as well. She marks too, so that is another reason she goes so much. But now at least she will go to the pad and mark if she wants. Do you want your yorkie to go outside or on pads? After surgery they need to have lots of water, and lots of water means lots of pee. You can't expect them to hold it for so long, i think that would be bad for them too. Also I wonder, why did he get bladderstones twice in such a short amount of time? did they not get them all out the first time? |
