wondering ? i have a 14 week old male and he drags his butt on the floor can some one tell me why he does this and how i can get him to stop. thanks |
He might have worms. Have you checked his butt to see if there is poop stuck to it? If no poop, then I would take a stool sample to the vet to check for worms. |
It sounds like his anal glands need to be suppressed. Take him to your vet or groomer to have it done. |
He might have impacted glands that surround the anus.Or he might have worms (itchy) Either case as young as he is you should call the vet and get him checked out if you haven't already. |
Hi! Maybe his fur is compacted on his anus, or maybe it's his diet...what type of food do you feed him? Has he been checked for worms? Prince will do that sometimes if he is a little constipated. Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon. :welcome4: (I was typing during the previous posting. Sorry about the dupe info.) |
I don't think anal glands are real common problem especially in puppies. If their stool is solid the anal glands should take care of themselves. I have never in my lifetime had to have the anal glands done on any of my dogs. At his age more likely to be worms. |
he has a vet appt tomorrow i am going to ask but he doesnt do it all the time just once in a while and he has normal stools. thanks all |
Both my Biewers (male) do this. My female Yorkie does not. When I spoke to my Vet about it (fecal tests were done) she told me sometimes they do this for the same reason we use toilet paper. :D I know....it sounds gross. But sometimes it just is what it is. Either way, taking him to your Vet is always the first decision you should make. You'll know soon enough! I hope everything works out ok. :) |
