Kong Rubber Dog Toys Does anyone else have a Kong that they give to their Yorkie? The classic regular Kong (I know they have many different toys now...) I bought a few for Jackson a while back, and I took the advice of someone and filled it with peanut butter and froze it... but he just doesn't really like peanut butter... so he wasn't interested. If I put a chicken jerky strip in there, he will work to get it out, but only when I'm home. If I leave him a filled Kong when I leave the house... he never touches it (he sleeps the whole time I'm gone). However, I discovered recently that he LOVES yogurt. I buy him the Dannon no-fat vanilla yogurt and he loves it. So I put a bunch of it into the bigger sized Kong (the big red one) and stuck it in the freezer for the night. I'm going to give it to him in the AM before I leave and see if he's interested in it more... I think he will be! Does anyone else have a pooch that loves their Kong? For those wondering, it's this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2750604 |
Oh yes, both my babies like the kong. My 20 month old is showing the ropes to the 14 week old....its so funny. I use the puppy "ziggy" sticks. :p |
Indy loves hers! I stuff it with kibble so she works to get her meals out. When I leave the house I also stuff it full of other treats (and some kibble, depending on what I put in there: freeze dried bison liver, teeny bits of cheese, peanut butter. Since she's just under 5 months she still has a baby Kong. |
Yep. my 5 month old loves her KONG. I put a little bit of wet food in there and freeze it. Peanut butter is too hard on her tummy. |
We sometimes use the kongs (mostly in the summer). We fill ours with yogurt, but I use plain FF greek yogurt which is much lower in sugar than any flavors including vanilla. Sometimes I throw a few frozen blueberries in with the yogurt and freeze it like that. |
Hey! This gives me some great ideas new ideas for the knong. I love the kongs (and my dogs do too) because I feel like they are actually one of the safer toys I can give my dogs while I am gone. I refuse to leave them with any type of bully stick or chew unsupervised. Mine seem to love the kongs and it is so funny to see them work to get their food/treats out. Moka las learned to bounce hers off the floor to break up what is inside.:) |
