Update-Hip Dysplasia I took my Mylee in today to be spayed, and at the same time they were going to x-ray and examine her back right leg/hip. I was prepared for a diagnosis of LP or LPD but instead got a diagnosis of hip dysplasia. She is only 6 months old. My breeder already agreed to help, but I am still frustrated as I put a lot of time and thought into my breeder, did everything right by going to visit her, she is AKC, seen the parents, went back a second time, everything you all recommend doing and this little girl is shaping up to be the worst genetically I have ever had. :( Sorry, venting here. Right now she will be on maintenance, but in her future she may need the same type of surgery LPD requires (removal of the ball of her femur-I think). Anyone have words of encouragement/experience with hip dysplasia? |
I don't have any experience with hip dysplasia but am sorry you're going through this. I do know that even the best of breeders can sometimes have problems with a pup. I'm glad to hear your breeder is willing to help, that is the ethical thing to do in this case. But, I know it doesn't begin to deal with your heartache. Hopefully another member will have some information to share that is encouraging.:) |
