magsmom | 03-26-2010 07:13 AM | I can't seem to make it better... I am so upset. My little maltese who is 5 years old as of yesterday, has been sick for awhile now... A few weeks ago she vomitted up clear foam with a tiny string of blood. Hubby and I rushed her to the vet to be safe. Vet said a tiny amount is somewhat normal due to the nature of the action. He told us to watch if it gets worse. The next weekend, it did... This time the whole foamy, no food, vomit is all pink, then comes a stool followed by bloody gel. So now I'm terrified. Monday: The vet inspected it and said it appears to be colitis, not to worry, doesn't seem like anything worse. He gave her a shot and some stuff called green lizard (basically malox, zantac, and a numbing agent to calm the tummy). Then prescribed a pepcid solution for her and metronydozale (sp?) Tuesday: Metro worked to stop the icky stools, so we were supposed to stop when that cleared. Thursday: Enter icky stool again. Friday am: Vomitting more pink foam. We are supposed to go back to the vet Monday to reevaluate the situation and they may have to scope her tummy and do an xray. The vet hates to scope her because she is a tiny 4.5 pounds and he said it will not be pleasant for her. What a cruddy birthday week for my baby. I really hoped this would all stop. She doesn't eat really regularly to begin with, but when she does it is Innova dry with canned (California Natural, Innova, or Nature's Variety~ We have to switch it up or she stops eating for days). So I know that she needs to be eating little bits more frequently, but short of shoving it down her throat, she won't do that. She is eating about once a day, somewhat normal for her, but just seems to be feeling blah. I feel so bad and want to take the pain away. It makes me cry that I can't just fix it and I don't know what's wrong! This is killing me... I would appreciate any and all prayers as the situation does not seem to be getting any better. |
