Rabies Vaccine Question! Hi! My Maddy is only 4 months old, and 2 1/2 pounds. Maddy is scheduled to get her rabies vaccine next week. Any thought on getting a rabies vaccine this young?!?! All Maddy's other shots so far has made her very sore! Is she to young and small for the rabies vaccine yet?! Would love to hear opinions from all my Yorkie friends!! :animal36Thanks!! Brenda |
I have always heard 6 mo or later. Even my bad byb told me not to rabies until after then! |
I usually do the rabies after 6 months. |
I'd wait as long as possible, but your state/county laws may say it has to be done by four months; so it may be hard to avoid unless your vet agrees with you... |
The rabies police are not going to come after you, so wait...I'm not so sure rabies is a necessary vaccine, but that's another story...I'd definitely wait 'till your pup was a little older, stronger, and heavier... |

My Sofia is 10 months and only weighs 2.5 lbs now. She had her rabies shot at 6 months, because her vet felt we should break up all vaccines because of her size. She did fine. I would talk to your vet and see what they recommend. |
